A Day in Des Moines
One wintery day, a bunch of guys (gearheads, actually) met up in the town of Des Moines, IA with not a lot to do except to help out someone in distress. It seems that Bob had Art make him an engine (331 stroker), ship it to him, and now it had to go into Bob's car. Piece of cake. Well, it would have been, except that the icy roads prevented all of the locals from showing up. So, with folks driving or flying from miles away, the group got together and made it a day's project. Here's Art after the clutch and tranny were installed onto the engine.
While the rest of us were working, we did finally get Bob to do something useful....
The poor empty car prior to engine installation.
A group photo of the guys. From left to right: Bob, GT350Clone, Midlife, Robbie, and Art.
Hoisting the engine up and around. Notice the alternative transportation on the upper right Bob had to use while the car was engineless.
There she goes!
Ahhh...snuggled in, nice and cozy. Notice the Iowa-mandated air restriction device for pollution control.
A happy group of campers. JThompson (far right) joined us after the ice melted from the local roads.
Fired up and running! With open headers, and a happy owner, what could be nicer?
An example shot of a shit-eating grin.
